VIDEO TRANSCRIPT:
If you are a classroom teacher, support staff, administrator, service provider and work with Deaf children, come to share and discuss opportunities possible for our Deaf children to thrive. Indiana School for the Deaf will host National American Sign Language and English bilingual ECE Summit for professionals who work with Deaf children from birth to 8 years old.
Our theme for the ECE Summit is moving body, mind, and heart. This is an opportunity for the professionals to gather and share ideas to enhance our knowledge in the ECE field. It takes the body, mind, and heart to move things possible for our Deaf children. Each component is perceived to be vital for professionals and Deaf children. For example, “body” according to a professional’s perspective, is essential because it symbolizes being present for the Deaf children to share appropriate language for the child. “Body” according to a child’s perspective could mean to move physically and boosting cognitive ability is believed to associate with physical movement. Mind is a ultimate tool for everyone involved with young children. For example: bilingual strategies in the classroom or acquiring ASL for children at home with Deaf Mentors. The heart is the foundation of our movement with children and their home, school, and community.
The ECE Summit will be held on April 4-6, 2019. If you need more information about ECE Summit, go to the following websites: www.bilingualece.org or www.deafhoosiers.com.
